21 Mar TumTum Tree Foundation Donates $375,000 to Nine Children’s Charities
Oh, happy day! The 27th Annual Charity Wine Auction Weekend raised a total of $375,000 for charities and organizations across the state dedicated to improving the lives of children! Since its inception, the TumTum Tree Foundation has donated nearly $11 million to children’s charities and these results are a true team effort among the many volunteers, supporters, sponsors, local donors and restaurants and acclaimed wineries that continue to come together in support of the children of Alabama.
The TumTum Tree Foundation could not be more proud of and grateful to the Birmingham community for making the wine auction weekend a success year after year. We began this event in 1990 with a dream, and we’re fortunate that it has turned into the longest-running charity wine auction in the United States with a focus on children’s charities.
Proceeds from this year’s wine auction were disbursed across nine children’s charities and organizations in Alabama. On Thursday, March 16, 2017, we held our annual check presentation (AKA our favorite day of the year) at Children’s of Alabama where specific amounts were presented to each charity. With these donations, nine local charities and organizations will be better able to improve the lives of Alabama’s children across the state. We were honored to have Mike Warren, CEO of Children’s of Alabama, as the keynote speaker as well as representatives from each charity and TumTum Tree Foundation board members in attendance at the check presentation.
This year, the TumTum Tree Foundation beneficiaries include:
Kid One Transport
The Red Barn
Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders (for fellowships to research childhood cancer)
UAB’s Institute for Arts in Medicine (AIM)
Glenwood Autism and Behavioral Health Center
UAB Department of Neurology
